Completion of Dredging and Reclamation

The 8 August 2023 is the date the Contractor has completed the dredging and reclamation for the Addu City Reclamation project. 

 

Within a period of a bit more than 10 weeks, trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) HAM318 completed the construction of ~200 Ha of resilient land including Maradhoo, Hankede, Hithadhoo zone 1 and 2, and Resort islands 1, 2 and 3.

The Contractor's work is not yet completed. In the period of the next months, construction activities will continue including the following activities:

  • rock revetment construction for the coastal protection of the reclamations
  • second layer of geotubes filling for the resort islands 1, 2 and 3
  • drainage construction in the reclamations
  • leveling of the sand material in the reclaimed areas
